Hill City AquaZoo (formerly SeaQuest Lynchburg)

Apparently yet another SeaQuest closed earlier in October. SeaQuest Lynchburg is being "replaced" by a facility called Hill City AquaZoo, which is set to open November 2024. AquaZoo promises "a new look, some new animals and expanded habitats".

With the Fort Worth location the third SeaQuest closed down this year and Vince Covino stepping down as CEO, the writing is on the wall for SeaQuest's future and I don't think the franchise makes it past 2025. However, it seems these horrible mall aquariums will still remain under a different brand, with owners that are probably very connected with the Covino's.

I just uploaded 40 photos of this facility from a visit this past weekend. This place has parrots-on-a-stick in the gift shop, domestic pigs, capybara, and wallabies all indoors, heavily-advertised interactive experiences, and signage that nearly gave me an aneurysm.

If this is what they consider to be "improved", I'd dread to see what the former SeaQuest was like.

Admittedly, their fish tanks were fairly nice, but they ruin that with poor signage. Also, they had Leopard Sharks signed during my visit, but a keeper advised me that they had none.
