I think that Brookfield Zoo has one of the smallest collections of hoofstock for a major zoo.
Hoofstock Yards:
Bactrian Camels
Prezwalksi's Wild Horse
Addax
Grevy’s Zebras
Grant’s Zebras
Habitat Africa! The Forest
Okapi
Yellow-Backed Duiker
Blue Duiker
Habitat Afrca! The Savannah
Reticulated Giraffe
Klipspringer
Waterbuck
Warthog
Great Bear Wilderness
American Bison
Pachyderm House Might not count these:
Black Rhino
River Hippos
Pygmy Hippos (also in Tropic World)
Lowland Tapir (also in Tropic World)
Children's Zoo
Alpaca
Llama
Reindeer
Domestic Horses, pigs, cows, goats, and sheep.

No more Red River Hog and African Forest Buffalo?

the african forest buffalo that was at brookfield zoo is the one in san diego zoo. If im correct its the only one in us captivity.

I think they still have red river hogs but they closed the loop of Habitat Africa! The Forest that had the red river hog and forest buffalo exhibit. And i think there is multiple forest buffalos at san diego zoo but they all are females so no babies coming.

Back in the eighties when i studied in Chicago, brookfield had wisents, pere david´s deer, yak and situatunga in the hoofstock yards along with the zebras, addax and camels. All these species were breeding. The siberian ibex were on the rock and i think i remember a small herd of dall ´s sheep somewhere. Most of the other hoofstock you mentioned were there, except for the warthogs as swine were not allowed to be imported back then. I am not certain if there were collared peccaries at brookfield or lincoln park. It is sad to see the number of hoofstock species diminishing at so many zoos.

They closed almost half of the Hoofstock enclosures. if you look at the map (northwest of the main fountain right before the street) there are some abanded exhibits and a barn where the camels, giraffes and other hoofstock used to live in. Also where the children's zoo is it used to be a native Illinois animal exhibits. Map link:Brookfield Zoo Satellite Map

I hope hat the Brookfield Zoo master plan comes true! It contains a lot of new animals including new hoofstock.

It is going to be expensive (it said on the Strategic Plan that phase 2 which includes a new elephant exhibit that shows more hoofstock in it will cost 150 million and it said that they have raised 75 million but the strategic plan might be a little out dated) so i hope all the new exhibits are some of of the best.
