Borth Animalarium Hornbill Success

Remember the Hornbill chick I told you about last summer? Well I returned to Borth last week and spoke to one of the staff. It fledged, It was a perfect chick and chester Zoo have joined with them and it was sent to chester as part of the hornbill breeding program, good news is the parents are starting to nest again so there maybe more chicks on the way this year

Hornbill breeding not being standard procedure indeed every chick is a main event. What species are we talking though?

That is correct, I believe chester zoo are after this years chicks also.

I think that will depend on if they can bring in un-related birds to pair with any chicks that are hatched!!

I believe chester have several pairs both on and off exhibit so I'm sure they will be finding compatable pairs for them all

Spoke to a keeper today and Chester have 0.1 in Tsavo aviary and 1.0 offshow.

Chester want several pairs but as Bongorob has said in his post they do currently only have a pair!
