Chester Zoo Hornbills at Chester since 1978

.
The graet hornbills at Chester are not related to each other. The elephant house pair came from Avifauna, and the other pair should be breeding soon.

Hornbill /Bongorob- In 1982(?) Cotswold W.P. claimed the first successful Uk breeding of this species. The chick was later sent to Chester. Is this bird still in their collection do you know?

I can't find any record of a hornbill coming from Cotswold. What I have is

A male arrived in 1984 from Twycross and died in 1986.

A male arrived in 1987 from Mr C.Vine

A female arrived in 1996 from Avifauna

1.1 arrived 1998 I don't know where from

I believe the bird is one of the birds still kept at Chester but it did not come directly from Cotswold but arrived via another quite a few years later as an adult bird.

okay thanks. I was reading the sign at Cotswold and it said the chick went to Chester- but as you say maybe it was an indirect transfer. I doubt if either of Cotwold's current pair is its parent though.
