In sad news, the zoos White-Bellied Go-Away-Bird passed away, he was almost 25 years old and lived in retirement bts after the Bird House closed

Three guineafowl named Ross, Rachel, and Joey have arrived at the Houston Zoo. They share exhibit with African Spur Thighed Tortoises, Blue Duikers, and Stanley Cranes who were previously with the Okapis.

Indigo Bunting is a nice species at least for NA, the SA wetlands aviary is a bit harder to get excited about when we have the Pantanal Aviary already

I was really hoping they’d go an Asian aviary. Both the americas are really weird choices considering the Pantanal and Whooping Crane aviaries are a few feet away. I guess we should be looking at it more as an upgraded Flamingo enclosure than a brand new South American aviary though.

an asian or australian aviary would of been nice, but still looking forward to seeing more of this expansion. I wonder if the flamingoes will be flighted now that they are enclosed in an aviary.
Hopefully Asian Islands will have a walkthrough aviary.

The flamingos have been confirmed to be free flying in this aviary. They even plan on having guest encounters with them in the future.

Additional updates from my visit today
- White Ibis are now exhibited alongside the Whooping Cranes
- There is now a Eurasian Eagle Owl in the old Bald Eagle enclosure in the Children’s Zoo
- The ostriches have been moved from the Giraffe enclosure at the African Forest and now share exhibit with their zebras.

I am not on Facebook anymore but on the Houston Zoo Facebook page they had a slide show either last year or the year before with various birds eating out of pumpkins and one of them was a Storm’s Stork in a backstage area.
In the previous bird garden where the Galápagos Islands took over they had a Maleo.

oh? what does this mean exactly? is it like a partnership or can we expect Houston to be importing animals from Taipei Zoo?
When I saw the post, I assumed it meant something along the lines of an agreement to provide sanctuary for their animals in the event of an attack by the People's Republic of China (China) on the Republic of China (Taiwan) but knowing a little bit about the United States of America's Department of Agriculture regulations, that can't be right.

The zoo has hatched two Yellow-Headed Geckos, the parents of these two are on display in the reptile house and cohab with the South American Bushmaster
