Thanks, this is very useful.

Is there already a species list for Birds of the World? That section might be interesting for me to visit as well.

Primates of the Worlds itself doesn't look that interesting, but Allens swamp monkey and Coquerels sifaka are real rarities in Europe, so I might want to take the opportunity to see them again.

Natural encounters doesn't really have an interesting line-up. I might check out the building itself, in and out in 10 minutes.

The ''Cats, hoofed animals, and more'' section looks pretty skippable to me, although I do love duikers.

I just checked how large the zoos is; 55 acres. Exactly as much as Zoo Augsburg, a zoo I visited in 4,5 hours last april. This was with a slow and easy pace.

Perhaps I will be able to visit the majority of Zoo Houston if I can resist the urge to stop to take photographs of everything I see.
Recently I noticed that under the exhibit tabs on the zoos website they mention Hammerkop, Grey Crowned Cranes, Vultures (Hooded, Ruppells Griffon, Cape), various songbirds, Roseate Spoonbill, and Chilean Flamingos. Link below.

I plan on visiting this specific zoo in October for a vacation trip.

Is there anything noteworthy I should know before hand, like pricing and standout exhibits?

Standout exhibits: Galapagos Islands, Pantanal, Gorilla, and Chimpanzee.

I also enjoy watching the elephants.

A new exhibit that is opening soon (August 30) is the Birds of the World with aviaries that represent South American Wetlands, Africa Savanna, and North American Woodlands.

For admission you have to book ahead of time and the prices vary depending on the day of the week and if you get tickets that same day. If you get a ticket for today it will cost more. For 1 adult ticket on Monday-Friday it's about $24 to $25 but on the weekends it's $27 to $28.

The map on their website has been updated with World of Birds...and Amur Leopard apparently(when did they get those?)

the leopard now lives in the former vulture habitat which was ironically a african leopard exhibit before then

Wouldn’t the leopards be the ones that were immediately behind the tiger exhibit just moved to the old Snow leopard/Jaguar/Vulture exhibit.

That exhibit keeps getting passed around with minor environment rethemes.

those are clouded leopards that are in the cat row behind the tigers, Amur's are much larger and are true leopards. They have had cloudeds for years, the amurs are new.

It’s been 4 years since I’ve been to Houston but they did have larger spotted leopards in that larger exhibit for many years. One yellow (suspected of being a Jaguar hybrid) and one black. The cloudeds were in one of the smaller cages down the lines with Caracals, Servals, Fossa, Ocelots or whatever they have these days.

Aviaries look pretty good. Really like that skeleton feeder. Wonder what's next for Houston exhibit wise, hopefully they make more progress on Africa since it's still not finished, or I wonder if they'll start work on Asian Islands.
I’m gonna GUESS changing the children’s zoo to “Texas!” Then natural encounters rethemed to Madagascar, then Asian Islands, and African Savannah as the final installment.

Back in 2016 they had an African Leopard, it'd been gone a while now. The Jaguar got moved to the new exhibit in the Pantanal expansion. The habitat was used as temporary housing for the vultures which have now moved to wold or birds and an Amur Leopard has taken their place

The new Amur Leopard is Lisa from the Brookfield Zoo as mentioned in that thread by @pachyderm pro.

So what happened to the two African leopards?
