How aggressive are zebras really?

Firstly, zebras are not aggressive. Aggression is a human emotion and something we breed and train into dogs. Zebras are performing natural behaviors that help them survive in their wild environment. That these behaviors can be lethal to humans is unfortunate, and something to be aware of if you are involved in their management in captivity.

I sometimes wonder if zebra males could be given toys to vent their aggression. Large hanging boxing punching balls are sometimes given to rhinos, for example.

The bottom line is that aggression among animals is a natural instinct as much as affiliation, and should not be ignored or prevented.
That's actually a very good point. I wonder if the zebra's "punching bags" made noise or released a certain scent it would further compell them to vent on those instead of their fellow animals?
