One of my personal goals is to see as many of the animals from the original Zoo Tycoon as I possibly can. By my own calculations, I've only got a few left to tick off. But that got me thinking - how many animals from your favourite zoo simulation game have you seen IRL? It doesn't have to be Zoo Tycoon - just pick any one of your favourites and fire away.

....obviously I don't expect you to try and count extinct animals. XD

This is interesting. Zoo Tycoon 2 is one of my favourite games as well as all its expansions. I will try this with the base game and all expansions (bar Extinct Animals of course). Also I will keep it to species level since the game is inconsistent with species and subspecies...

There are a number of close, but not quites...I have seen Ibex, but it was a Siberian Ibex and Zoo Tycoon's Ibex are specifically Alpine Ibex. Likewise, I have seen Western Lowland Gorillas, but I believe Zoo Tycoon's gorillas are in fact Eastern Lowland.

This is an interesting idea for a thread as if you people are anything like me, using an animal in my Zoo Tycoon/Planet Zoo games only makes me want to see it more in real life. I was greatly dissapointed to learn the Blacktip reef shark at an aquarium in Perth had died weeks before my visit, as it was something I especially wanted to see.

My lists would be pretty similar to most people who’ve already posted, with Zoo Tycoon 2’s Mountain gorilla being an obvious omission for many of us. I don’t think anyone really understood why that made the cut over the Western lowland gorilla.

I can also guarantee nobody on here has seen the Killer Penguin from Zoo Tycoon 2; or seen Emperor penguins skim across the terrain at an insane speed in pursuit of giraffes, zebras and the such like. :D
