How many Bovid species/subspecies have You seen?

Hi zoo-fans,

I am a collector of bovids, means I try to get as many sightings with photos of bovid taxa as possible. I started 3 years ago, now I am at number 109 with taxa I have seen alive. Beside that I collect also fossil taxa and rare stuffed specimens. For now I would start with my list of lifers i have seen. Those with stars were seen also/only in the wild. I am interested how your list would look like!

Impressive! Isn't the Seregeti tommy the same as ssp. nasalis?

Thanks, It is indeed, I typed the wrong subspecies, as I have seen the nominate too.

Very impressive list! You must have travelled quite widely across Africa to have spotted so many African species. I envy you very much! :D
Where did you see the tsessebe?

I saw the Tsessebe in NE Botswana near Chobe NP. For my previous job I had a lot of field work in Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania, which certainly helped. But those days are over now with a final (and 11th) visit to Kenya earlier this year. Apart from that I have been to Southern Africa twice, of which one time was limited to the Western Cape. So I have been lucky to travel so much indeed.

Captive bovids I've seen:
  • Common impala
  • Blackbuck
  • Red lechwe
  • Defassa waterbuck
  • Blue wildebeest
  • Scimitar oryx
  • Roan antelope
  • Sitatunga
  • Lowland nyala
  • Common eland
  • Barbary sheep
  • Mishmi takin
  • Lowland anoa
  • Mountain anoa
  • Javan banteng
  • European bison
