How many different species of peacocks have you seen at the zoo?

I saw the Congo peafowl at the Saint Louis Zoo and a green peafowl at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
I’ve seen Indian peafowl roam freely at at least 3 zoos I’ve been to.

I have only seen only the Indian Peafowl (Pavo cristatus) at my local zoo, but I definitely would like to see the other two.

Catholics I think also consider peacocks a good omen, symbol of rebirth, of all-seeing god, immortality, holliness, incorruptibility. Some churches here add peafowl feathers to flower decorations during Easter. Some old paintings show archangel Michael with wings made from peafowl feathers.

Local people incorporated tail feathers into traditional festive clothing. The first pic with male head ornaments is from Šlapanice - small town near Brno (Czechia). The second pic shows a male leather waist belt embroidered by white peafowl feather quills done according to old museum pieces - Orlické Hory mountains region on border of Czechia and Poland. Peafowl is also frequently mentioned in old folk songs and balads.

Wow ..

I’ve only seen the Indian Peafowl species so far, with both the male peacock and the female peahen. The photo I shared here was taken at Pangea Park. Interestingly, I noticed Pangea Park wasn’t listed among the Danish zoos, which was a bit surprising.

These birds are always fascinating—especially the male with its vibrant plumage used for courtship displays. The females might not have the same flashy feathers, but they have a subtle beauty that makes them just as captivating to observe.

It is interesting that some of your churches decorate with peacock feathers. The opposite used to be the case in the UK, at least at the time when my grandmother was a church-warden.
Peacock feathers would never be allowed indoors, as their eyes would allow the devil to see into your heart.

I've seen all three congo at bronx, Indian at multipal, including the bronx, and buffalo and then greens at Animal kingdom back in 2014
