Since others have since given their full species list, I figured I'll do the same, instead of just genera and families. While I've seen these sorts of threads for many other animal taxa, I'm surprised I haven't seen a thread for discussing what primates people have seen. Here is my list of primate taxa seen, and I'd be curious to see your lists too.
Currently, there are sixteen recognized families of primates. Out of these sixteen, I have seen fourteen of them:
The two I have not seen are Tarsiidae, the tarsiers, and Lepilemuridae, the sportive lemurs.
- Lorisidae (lorises, pottos, and angwantibos)
- Galagidae (galagos and bushbabies)
- Daubentoniidae (aye-aye)
- Cheirogaleidae (mouse lemurs)
- Lemuridae ("true lemurs"- including the ring-tailed, ruffed, bamboo, and brown lemurs)
- Indriidae (indris and sifakas)
- Atelidae (spider and howler monkeys)
- Pitheciidae (sakis, titis, and uakaris)
- Callitrichidae (marmosets and tamarins)
- Cebidae (capuchins and squirrel monkeys)
- Aotidae (night monkeys)
- Cercopithecidae (all Old World monkeys)
- Hylobatidae (gibbons)
- Hominidae (great apes)
Within these sixteen families, there are approximately 81 genera, depending on what taxonomy you ascribe to. Genera I have seen are bolded below, with the number of species seen in parentheses. They are sorted by family, with families underlined. All combined, I have seen 43 out of 81 genera, and a total of 64 species. 63 of these species were seen in captivity, with the 64th species being humans:
