2025 will most certainly be a much smaller zoo year due to personal life and career changes. Hopefully though, I will be able to visit some of the bigger zoological facilities in Chicago and Dallas, but I'm not sure when.

I 2024 I visited

1. The Buffalo Zoo
2. Toledo Zoo

I made my first visit to Buffalo this year and was really impressed with their Arctic Edge and M&T Bank Rainforest Falls.

I also made around five visits to Toledo in 2024, a little less than usual but I hope to go more in 2025.

2024's been one heck of a year; after ending a 5 year toxic relationship, I've finally been able to make my own plans and adventures! In all, I've visited:
  1. Barcelona Zoo (regularly)
  2. Barcelona Aquarium (February; still need to upload those pics...)
  3. Köln Zoo (3-7)
  4. Frankfurt Zoo (4-7)
  5. Heidelberg Zoo (5-7)
  6. Leipzig Zoo (7-7)
  7. Berlin Zoo-Aquarium (8-7)
  8. Berlin Tierpark (9-7)
  9. Tierpark Hagenbeck (11-7)
  10. Duisburg Zoo (12-7)
  11. Düsseldorf Aqua-zoo (12-7)
  12. Réserve Africaine du Sigean (8-9)
Hopefully I'll be able to go to the UK this summer of 2025; I am planning to at least visit London and Chester Zoo, and Crocodiles of the World; if I have some more time and money, I may also visit Hamerton and Dudley Zoo.

In 2024 I only visited 6 zoos, each only once. This included three new zoos, and my second zoological institution outside the US. The two revisited zoos from TN I hadn't been to for about a decade.

New:
1. Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium, AZ
2. Phoenix Zoo, AZ
3. Taipei Zoo, Taiwan

Revisited:
1. Lincoln Park Zoo, IL
2. Zoo Knoxville, TN
3. Rainforest Adventures Zoo, TN

Below is my total from last year, no overlap and down three, which is interesting.
In 2023 I visited 2 old (And regularly visited in years past) zoos, as well as 7 new ones, for a total of 9. I didn't visit anywhere more than once this year.

I visited for the first time this year:
1. California Academy of Sciences, CA
2. Monterey Bay Aquarium, CA
3. Miller Park Zoo, IL
4. Shamba Safari, WI
5. International Crane Foundation, WI
6. Henry Vilas Zoo, WI
7. Cosley Zoo, IL

I revisited:
8. Shedd Aquarium, IL
9. St. Louis Zoo, MO

Overall, being up by two from last year is not bad, although hopefully, I'll be able to get to more next year, including some new ones, although this is (Near verbatim) what I said last year too

The total number may be low, but each facility was quite enjoyable, in their own ways. I've already well surpassed the total number of visits and new facilities this year (2025), however :D.

I'd like to make a number of revisits to nearby zoos this year, and who knows what the future will bring and what more new places I make it to this year.

My worst year for number of zoo visits in more than a decade I'm sure( I haven't checked but I don't think there are less than 35 zoos most years). Just 50 visits to 24 zoos

Hamerton 6
Colchester 2
Linton 19
Johnson's of Old Hurst
Shepreth
Whipsnade 2
Hemsley
Fenn Bell
Wildwood
Banham
British Wildlife Centre 2
Tilgate
Yorkshire Wildlife Park
Cannon Hall Farm
Twycross
Hertfordshire Zoo
Jimmy's Farm
Exmoor
Paignton
Axe Valley
Marwell
London
Monkeyworld
Africa Alive

Edit

I knew something was missing

Port Lympne

So 51 visits to 25 zoos

It was an amazing year for me zoo wise! Visiting 3 new zoos that have been on my bucket-list, and 2 zoos I haven't visited in a while.

Kansas City Zoo - July 2024 (first visit since 2022?)
Berlin Zoo - July 2024
Prague Zoo - July 2024
Tiergarten Schönbrunn - July 2024
Blank Park Zoo - September 2024 (First visit since 2019)

This was also interestingly the first year since 2018 I have not visited the Henry Doorly Zoo.
