How much does zoo animals cost

That..really depends on where you're situated and what animals you're interested in getting.

Without more information I don't think any of us here can help you

The animals I want are

bengal tiger
red neck wallaby
Asian small clawed otter
Fairy penguin
Common wombat
Common eland
Plains zebra

You are asking the wrong question. Most of the species mentioned can be obtained on free exchange from ZAA zoos. Build enclosures and provide care to meet ZAA welfare standards and all you need do is pay for transport costs. So the real question is what does it cost to build and run an accredited zoo.

Hey guys I’m wondering if you guys can help me I been trying to open a zoo lately and don’t know how much the animals will cost can anyone help
Like @lintworm has stated, you are clearly not ready to open a zoo by asking this. The answer I will give to this is simply *extremely expensive*. I also have a few questions for you concerning your zoo. First of all, when do you want to have your zoo open? It is very different if you want it open within a few months or if you are planning it for it to open 20 or more years into the future.

The second question I have for you is do you absolutely need to have ALL of the species you listed before opening your zoo. Also, how many of each species do you want and where do you think you will get them from? I'd definitely recommend bigger herds for most of the species on this list.

Aside from all of that, I would just like to say that acquiring exotic animals for your own private zoo is EXTREMELY HARD. You need to have big enough enclosures for your animals and it is also REALLY expensive to create the but that is not the whole point. You also have to maintain all the animals and feed them, clean their exhibits and provide them with enrichment and all sorts of other stuff. Maintaining your own zoo and keeping it reasonable is nothing less than flushing your money down the toilet and having a massive workload 24/7/365. For these reasons and those that some others have said, you VERY CLEARLY are not ready to have your own zoo.

I agree!

Maintaining your own zoo and keeping it reasonable is nothing less than flushing your money down the toilet and having a massive workload 24/7/365.
And if you don't plan on undertaking this massive workload and instead hire others to do so, paying your employees will be another substantial sum of money out of your pocket.

i am genuinely curious what the cost of setup for a bengal tiger habitat would be vs... whatever the "easiest" animal from that limited list is (i'd imagine wallaby? or maybe wombat?).

like there's a huge difference obviously- but i'm curious as to what order of magnitude a tiger is more expensive than a wallaby.

If you build your bengal tiger (other subspecies also accepted?) habitat in a country with low land price / building material / labour costs, no animal welfare / public safety regulations and a year-long tiger - friendly climate, it will be considerably cheaper than building it in Zürich, Switzerland. ;) Same goes for all the other animals on the wishlist.

What do you mean by 'don’t know how much the animals will cost'? Do you mean how much they'll cost as in you want to buy them and wanna know their price, or you want to know how much they'll cost to feed and keeps, or how much the exhibits will cost?

Here are details of the animals you were interested in. As others have said, running a zoo would be very expensive and you would need licences to keep some of the animals.

I believe you are being unrealistic at the moment, especially as regards the Bengal tiger, and you need to consider about acquiring land and husbandry skills etc before pursuing your goal.
