How to get exotic animals

After getting an exotic/dangerous animal license and you have everything you need, where do you get the animal? I’m guessing from other zoos/owners but how? I’m based in the uk if that helps.

Based on your other posts I think you're going to struggle to find any reputable source of animals such as elephants and African hoofstock to throw in a big fenced area all together and call it a day.

And given you don't have the animals yet, why are you trying to plan to mix Elephant species for example? That's something that would more be born out of convenience or circumstance, not something you should be actively trying to do. Moreover, getting as many different hooftstock as possible for one enclosure is a disaster waiting to happen...

I don't think you've thought this through.

I don’t plan on mixing species or getting hooftstock. Im just asking questions. I’m interested in big cats and primates and would like to know where private owners get them from and how. Plus I plan on getting them in a few years not now, I’m not ready for one. I’d just like to know where I would get them for when I am ready.

First of all, I suggest that you look at the Dangerous Wild Animals Act (UK - Dangerous - Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976 ("DWAA") | Animal Legal & Historical Center) and look at what you will need to do to get a licence. You should also carefully consider why you want to keep a dangerous animal that could threaten you and/or visitors, even if you kept it in suitable conditions.

I don’t plan on getting any I’m just curious on how zoos and private keepers get their animals.
