How would a group of people go about setting up a conservation group/society ? How would u find volunteers ? And project's to work on or start ?

Why start from scratch? There are lots of groups who would welcome new members to help with projects that are already on-going. In the UK, for example, there are RSPB local groups, county naturalists trusts, local ARGs (Amphibian & Reptile groups) etc

If you have a group of like-minded individuals already doing conservation work in an ad-hoc manner, then forming a society is the next natural step. For example, when I was at uni, I started a 'party society' because we had a group that was already doing it, and we thought it would be good to have an official group. I think it would have been far more difficult if I were lone wolf trying to start a society from scratch.

Having said that, I think you really need to find yourself a niche, and be able to have coherent answers when asked "so what is your society doing that the others aren't? What is your society trying to achieve?".

Why not just state your ideas here and open it up to critiquing. Indeed, people with the mindset of Zoochatters will probably be your target members anyway.

hey its only a start , any ideas help etc would be very much appreciated .

New Horizons Conservation Society

Intro

The 8.7 million species of animals currently in existence are not a snapshot in time but a legacy for the future. The NHCS aims to increase the awareness of environmental and the human impacts faced by the planets animals.
Over the recent decades we have become aware of the blight of hundreds of species worldwide, many of which are on the brink of extinction. It has been estimated that humans have been directly and indirectly responsible for the extinction of over a thousand species during our existence and many more if we don’t act now!

Mission statement

• Encourage and educate young people about the importance of their continual involvement in the area of animal welfare and conservation.
• Identify species threatened by human activity, and then work to prevent the damage on the ecosystem.
• Identify current ongoing projects that are protecting animals and their environments, and support them anyway NHCS can.
• Assist UK and worldwide-based sanctuaries in their efforts to care for animals that have suffered as a result of the illegal pet trade and the destruction of their natural habitat.

I could send the logo if anyones interested.

Sounds like you have already started it up. Not too sure that your aims are that far from every other conservation-orientated charity, but good luck.
