I believe the 3 northern lynx at howletts were related. Does anyone know if for sure if they are and what subspecie exactly are they?

On an unrelated note, would it not make more sense to move all the non-breeding/hybrid or retired cats to the wildlife heritage foundation (yes I know its not an aspinall park but still!) and use the howletts/port lym space for breeding pairs?

so they are 2 elderly female siberian lynx. hopefully when they pass on (sounds like one already has!) they can get a breeding pair going. They are beautiful cats, the ones at newquay were f. l. carpathicus (carpathian lynx) i believe and looked amazing.

there is also a lynx at port lympne, i think this is an elderly female f. l. lynx also.

Assuming:

A) Howletts would want to;

B) WHF would want to too (they wouldn't be cheap to house/feed).

Therein, probably, lies the reason why not. Maybe Howletts feel they owe a duty of care to look after their animals for life (very reasonable in my opinion).

Yes you're probably right shorts. I think there;s only three hybrids left now - manas at howletts and 2 at the bottom of port lympne. I think they're all quite elderly too.
 
Rufiji one of the Female Rhino's at Howletts is Pregnant!. Finally a Little calf Due at Howletts.

Due to Rufiji’s pregnancy, the group has been temporarily separated. They are all a lot calmer since their separation and all enjoying some alone time away from raging hormones!

As has been said her name is 'Lahore' she was born at Port Lympne in 1998, she was in a litter with the two males at Port Lympne. Calcutta, Delhi and Lahore were the last litter to be born to Harami and Pindi.

It's obviously very clear that they are not breeding, and are merely together for company and are being phased out, now the last of the original tigers at Howletts.
 
Some question about the Chinese leopards.

1. Does somebody know when does the male leopard Saian was born?
2. When did the two offsprings born in 2010?
3. A male offspring was send to Szeged in 2011. Does the other one still live in Howletts. Its a male or female?

The two offspring were born 19th July 2010 and they were two boys named Baiya and Dalai. The cubs father Saian was born at Thoiry.
