From the zoo's Facebook page, they have had four Capybara pups recently (the adults arrived in November 2016), as well as Meerkat and Common Marmoset babies.

Hunter valley zoo has welcomed 15 births in a matter of weeks at the start of October. It includes: two Capybara, five common marmoset monkeys, twin ring tail lemurs, four Bolivian squirell monkeys and two black handed spider monkeys!

Interestingly, Hunter Valley never (as far as I found) put out any sort of announcement that they had even received the tamarins which I thought was very strange, especially given how unusual they look and with the selling point of being one of only two zoos to display them.This wasn’t mentioned previously but the zoo has welcomed twin Red-handed Tamarins.

This is the first mention I’ve found of their Red-handed Tamarins.
I agree- you’d think they would promote them more ( they remind me of black gremlins).
That’s a shame- not many zoos keep this species in Australia.

@WhistlingKite24 , I beleive that this pair was the last two in Australasia. Can’t confirm it though. Auckland zoo are planning to import some for their Wild Asia precinct which opens next year or ‘this year’ in one day.
So it will be great to see more in the region. I’m looking forward to see the numbers that Auckland will import and if they will or won’t be breeding them.
I don’t think so- I was also dubious whether there were any crab-eating macaques left, but I recently recieved confirmation from Tasmania Zoo and Green Valley Farm, that they both hold the species. As mentioned in the Exotic Mammals Thread this species is also held in research facilities.
I think Rhesus Macaques are in more trouble.
