I just uploaded 26 new photos of this tiny Kansas zoo.
 
Since 2017, Hutchinson Zoo acquired a (1.0) ocelot named Nico from the Buffalo Zoo in 2018. There was also a flood in 2019 that ravaged 1/3 of the zoo, damaging 5 buildings and 2 playgrounds. No animals or staff were injured during the flood. In 2020, the zoo built and completed a new North American river otter exhibit.

On July 1st, 2021, the zoo announced that (2.0) American beavers were born on April 24th.

On July 19th, the zoo announced that the beavers that were born in April are males.

On December 20th, the zoo announced that a (0.1) burrowing owl named Lara was born around June 27th.

On January 8th, 2022, the zoo announced plans to build a new viewing area for the zoo's American bison. Also, the zoo acquired a (1.0) American bison named Norman in September 2021.

On June 3rd, the zoo announced they are starting construction on a new splash pad called the Splash Pad and Nature Play Expansion on June 8th. The new area will open to the public by autumn 2022.

On June 23rd, the zoo announced that a (0.1) greater roadrunner named Blueberry passed away due to a ruptured oviduct. The zoo also announced they acquired a (1.0) greater roadrunner named Raspberry from the Fort Worth Zoo in Texas in spring 2023.

On May 4th, the zoo announced they acquired a (1.0) North American river otter named Atlas earlier in spring from a wildlife confiscation and is now on exhibit.

On May 30th, the zoo announced they moved a (0.1) striped skunk named Violet from being an ambassador animal to now being on display in the former American badger exhibit.

On January 5th, 2024, the zoo announced they are currently working on an expansion to the American bison exhibit which will open in spring. They also announced they built a new training platform to the bison exhibit.

Hutchinson Zoo celebrates Norman the bison's contributions to science

On June 3rd, the zoo announced that they are opening a new walking path and viewing area of the American plains bison, mule/white-tailed deer, and pronghorn exhibits called Gateway to the Prairie on June 7th. These exhibits were originally only viewable from a distance, and the facility also allows guests to feed the bison (with staff on-hand).

On August 3rd, the zoo announced that a (1.0) American bison named Norman passed away at age 18 caused by a protein-losing disorder.

On August 22nd, the zoo announced they added shade structures inside the mini farm and aviary exhibits, as well as switched exhibits for their ringtails and swift foxes.
