Hyenas versus African Dogs in US zoos

Given the arrogance you've been displaying here while being wrong, I'm going to let you figure it out yourself. I don't know what you mean by "Charleston WV", there isn't a zoo near there.

Yes my assumption is that the West Virginia Zoo was in Charleston. Apologies. Either way, no hyenas.

I asked for data that you were said to have. No more, no less. Also, to be fair, I conceded my point to the poster I was debating the issue with in no uncertain terms.

If asking for real data rather than arbitrary numbers is arrogant, then guilty as charged. I didn't say zoos with hyenas didn't exist. I just said I wasn't aware of any.

I listed every major zoo that geographically surrounds my state. I listed ones that definitely have and don't have hyenas, and ones that may or may not.

I've said nothing derisive or offensive to you by any objective measure.

Wrong on both counts, then. Hence, arrogance.

"Major zoos" aren't the only ones capable of holding hyenas, either.

I already admitted to the error regarding WV.

I never claimed that major zoos are incapable of holding hyenas. If you can show me where I did, I'll concede the point as I have in previous posts, despite my apparent arrogance, in clear terms. If anything I wanted to learn what smaller ones exist that do house them.

All I did was list major zoos in surrounding states that I didn't think held spotted hyenas. Maybe they do, maybe they don't, but I've either not seen them there in person or do not see them on zoo sites.

Arrogant and wrong are two very different things. If I were truly arrogant, would I be in here conceding points and trying to gain knowledge?

I only see 1 arrogant person here and that is someone who keeps telling others they are wrong, without being helpful in the slightest...

I guess we'll have to disagree on whether providing providing the number of zoos, including the number of zoos in a region, is helpful, then.

West Virginia/Hovatter's has had a pair of hyenas for at least a decade, hence "both counts". The exhibit is awful, but they're still hyenas.

You haven't directly said only major zoos can hold them, but you've used the term multiple times and keep giving numbers that only include them, while saying things like "In my surrounding states, I can only think of about 3-5 zoos that have hyenas. . . Only about 5 have hyenas compared to at least 8 have the dogs. It's definitely not easy to see hyenas in my part of the country." You've also repeated incorrect claims after being told the correct numbers.

Okey Dokey.
