They added two male Spotted Hyenas to my local zoo (Franklin Park Zoo in Boston), a while back. Haven't been to that particular zoo in a while, but their enclosure used to have African Wild Dogs until about six months ago.
FPZ is focusing on re-educating the public about hyenas in an attempt to disprove the stereotypes of these animals in both African tribal and Western cultures, a mix of both of these is seen in Disney's The Lion King (not saying it wasa bad movie, because it was the exact opposite of bad. It was awesome!), where they serve as the comical minions to the film's antagonist, Scar.
