I suppose an introduction is in order...

Although I have been on here for a few month , I suppose I should tell a bit about myself.

I live 20 minutes from the Fresno Chaffee Zoo and have been going there regularly since I can remember. I know a ton about it so feel free to ask any questions about it or if you are making a visit I would be more than happy to give you a complete tour.:D

Im very interested in exhibit design and plan to pursue a career in that field after I serve a 2 year mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I don't yet know were I will be serving my mission. It could be anywhere in the world, so I'm hoping for somewhere with interesting animals and a nice zoo!

I don't have a single favorite animal but the Matchies tree kangaroo is definitely up there along with African elephants. I have been to 10 zoos (FCZ, San Diego, SDZ Safari Park, Pheonix, Hogle Zoo, San Antonio, Memphis, Texas Zoo, CALM zoo, and Charles Paddock Zoo) and two aquariums: the Monterey Bay aquarium and Odysea aquarium in Phoenix.

My non-zoo related hobbies include fishing, hiking, scuba diving, reading, and welding.

One final fun fact is that my high school ag department raises emu They have around 16, and every year the vet science class incubates some eggs. I helped a lot with them during my years there including eating them. Call me what you want, but they taste good.

welcome
Just remember keep the needs of the animals, keeper, veterinarian, curator,
public and administrative muckity mucks (in that order) while making it of
sustainable materials and not expensive to operate- and you'll do fine.

Thanks everyone. @Daktari JG I will be sure to keep all that in mind. The complexity of exhibit design is one of the things that draw me to that field. To me, a brilliantly designed zoo exhibit is the most beautiful kind of artwork.... except for maybe nature. There is nothing that can beat God's handiwork.
