Hi does anyone know of any places preferably in the south that has any of the lesser kept Ibis Species? We have seen Scarlett Ibis, Sacred Ibis and Northern Bald Ibis.
It seems chew magna near Bristol has Buff necked, is this a place that's worth a visit?
Have looked on Zootierliste but doesn't seem to show all places and doesn't always seem up to date.
Thanks for any help.

From memory, Exmoor Zoo has a number of Ibis species (I ‘think’ they inherited some flocks when a northern collection closed?); check their website for details. Good luck.

In terms of southern UK only....

Hadada are at Axe Valley Wildlife Park.
American White are at Drusilla's Zoo Park.
Southern Bald are at Exmoor Zoo.
Madagascar Crested are at London Zoo.
Glossy are at Twycross Zoo and Exmoor Zoo.
Puna are at Exmoor Zoo, Chew Valley Animal Park and Axe Valley Wildlife Park.
Buff-necked are at Exmoor Zoo and Chew Valley Animal Park.
Black-faced are at Exmoor Zoo
Black-headed are at Exmoor Zoo
Straw-necked are at Exmoor Zoo

Great list. ZSL only have one Madagascar Crested, awaiting a mate. Axe Valley have a single Hadada.

That's a great list thanks for doing that. Exmoor will be well worth a trip then.

I also remember seeing Black-faced Ibis in London some 6 years ago now; though from what I have heard, they are not there anymore.

I do not believe Drusilla have those anymore, only Scarlets and Sacreds. I didn’t see them or any sign of them the other day.

Does anyone know what Birdworld has?

Finally got around to going to axe valley today. Really nice place. Ibis wise they had:
2 Hadada Ibis
3 Puna Ibis
1 Black Headed Ibis
1 Northern Bald Ibis

We also saw 4 Australian Ibis at Chessington last month.

We are planning to visit Exmoor and chew valley very shortly too.

Exmoor have a quality line up of Ibis!

You might even be lucky whilst popping down to one of the zoo's in the south to even spot Glossy Ibis out in the wild, whilst checking out various zoo housed ibis species.!

Not even that far south. I saw one in North Norfolk on Monday!

Along with Cattle Egrets zoos need to update their distribution maps.

We first saw glossy ibis in the wild in romsey a few years ago. Seeming they bred in England last year It will be interesting to see how regular sightings become in the coming years.
