Just thought what is found in my local woods might have been of interest to some members of this forum, the remains of Eastham Zoological Gardens;

Where is this...In some of the pictures it looks like Angkor Wat all overgrown and what not.

Entry from Bartlett Society:

Eastham Pleasure Gardens

Built in the 1840s near where the Eastham to Liverpool ferry docked. Part of a larger Pleasure Garden. The animal attractions included bears, lions, monkeys and antelope. The shell of the bear pit is still easily visible and many photos are available via Internet searches.

What on earth ae "silver bears"? I did a quick google search and found zilch. anyone care to help?

I have visited Eastham on many occasions but have never come across the old exhibits, could you tell me where they roughly are?

Interesting! perhaps a black bear mutation?? like a cinnamon or white bear? spirit bear?

Im aware of these variations but I've never heard of silver bears. Anyone else got a clue? Logically I would agree and say that it might be a variation of the american black bear.

For anyone interested the Kermode or "spirit" bear: [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kermode_bear]Kermode bear - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]
