If you had a zoo, what 5 species would yo definitely have?

No difference at all, it is merely a name some collections use to make their tigers sound special - all the moreso when you consider outside of India there are no Bengal Tigers at all, and thus these animals are invariably zoomix individuals.
I think he knows they are the same thing ;)

Interestingly though, the name "Royal Bengal tiger" isn't a zoo invention, it is because during the British rule in India leopards were called tigers. So the Royal tiger was the actual tiger. The name is just a hold-over from a past era.

Never heard that one before. Leopards were often called "panthers" in India during the Raj; sometimes you'll see Indian writers use that name today.

further interestingness: at one time the names panther and leopard referred to what were thought to be different species (determined by such things as tail length and body size and such. I can't remember the specifics).

I've been googling trying to find a back-up reference to the royal tiger etymology I claim, but can't find anything online. I have lots of old natural history books (but all in storage so not accessible to me currently) which is where I originally got it from.

Hmmm....If it's strictly a zoo then I'd have to go with the following:
Okapi (gotta have my favorite animal in there!)
Greater Kudu
Harpy Eagle
Indian Rhinoceros
Jaguar

there's about 3000 animal books in there and I haven't seen any of them since 2011 because I haven't had a home since then!! :(

So my choices are a little beyond reach, but what the heck, it's my zoo! :P

Platypus
Kakapo
Iberian lynx
Marine iguana
Mountain gorilla

I wrote down about 15 species off the top of my head and then eliminated species one at a time until I ended up with 5. They are:
-Golden Snub-nosed monkey
-Sun Bear
-Baikal Seal
-Tufted Deer
-Sea Otter

That's a hard choice to make, though exciting!

I would have

Francois' langur
Dusky langur
Javan langur
Silvered langur
Golden snub-nosed monkey

My zoo would aim to appeal to a wide range of visitors, so I have decided to choose one species from each class, and like TLD I will resist temptation and confine myself to species that are currently held in Europe and that I have seen.

Mammal western gorilla
Bird long-tailed duck
Reptile Boelen's python
Amphibian mountain chicken
Fish Neolamprologus furcifer (I don't think there are any on show in Europe, but I'm sure some are kept privately)

There is, of course, a long queue of disappointed creatures which have been unlucky for one reason or another. I apologise to all broad-nosed gentle lemurs, Demidoff's galagos, Indian rhinos, klipspringers, blue-crowned lories, Pesquet's parrots, chestnut wattle-eyed flycatchers, New Zealand tree geckos, four-eyed fishes, Cyathopharynx furcifer and Petrochromis trewavasae.

Choosing just five is such a difficult task. I love so many species. I picked 5 I cant see at my home zoo.

African Wild Dog - I have always loved them.
Giant Otter - Love otters and have never seen a giant otter.
Quokka - They are just too adorable not to have.
Platypus - Why not have the most unusual mammal alive?
Walrus - Who doesn't love walruses?

I cant believe I cut some of the animals I did. Ask me on another day and you would probably get 5 very different animals but always mammals.

In no particular order:

Egyptian Goose
Riverine Rabbit
Reeves's Pheasant
Glossy Ibis
Leopard Gecko

I would love to have in my zoo.
American black bear
koala
jaguar
arctic wolf
raggiana bird of paradise.

I never said it had to be Strictly zoo, you can have marine species if you would like

Picking just five animals is a bit difficult, but I'll go big or go home and have killer whales, moose, african elephants, western gorillas and whale sharks.

Keeping it realistic enough:
1) South African Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus jubatus)
2) Indochinese Golden Cat (Pardofelis temminckii temminckii)
3) Sulawesi Knobbed Hornbill (Aceros cassidix)
4) Australian Freshwater Crocodile (Crocodylus johnson)
5) Indian Rhinoceros (Rhinoceros unicornis)
