There's an excellent, 4-page review of Iguanaland in the latest issue of Zoo Grapevine & International Zoo News (Summer 2024) and it's remarkable that the facility holds zero crocodilians and only a handful of non-venomous snakes. Almost the entire collection of more than 250 species consists of lizards, turtles and tortoises.

It's an interesting article, discussing the $7 million invested by owner Ty Park for his 7-acre reptile zoo in Florida. There's more than 100 forms of chelonian in this one location, all 5 of the sailfin lizard species, and loads of lizard rarities. The goal is to raise at least $500,000 for reptile conservation as well as to breed many rare specimens in captivity.

Excitingly, 3 Ricord's Iguanas have hatched. They are currently expecting s 100% hatch rate for all 16 eggs which would be phenomenal for such a rare species!

A second significant breeding success with the Cyclura lizard species Iguanaland holds!

I wonder how many Anegada Island Cyclura hatched following the June 2024 announcement!

In fact, they received 8 fairly young Galapagos tortoises. Must check back about their genetic status .... though!

13 out of 16 of the Ricord's Iguanas have now hatched! It seems that the owner Ty Parks is planning on selling the babies and one zoo has seemingly reached out with the intention to purchase the whole clutch.

The zoo has announced they've collected three clutches of eggs from the critically endangered Timor Snake-Necked Turtle (Chelodina mccordi timorensis) equally 25 eggs (if I'm hearing the video correctly, the audio is a little difficult to make out).

I'm not sure how many the zoo keeps behind the scenes, but I counted 4-5 on-exhibit back in February.
