Dublin Zoo Improvements to Dublin Zoo

Could somebody in Dublin zoo give us a timeline for new improvements to the zoo?

I have heard that Okapi are on the way but I know there is a real concentration on improving other exhibits for existing animals.

In my opinion, exhibits in most need of improvement are the Sealions, The Orangutan and the Hippo. Three iconic species that are not appreciated to their full potential in their current exhibit!

The Asian otters could also benefit from the addition of some water to swim in. Why they were not housed in the stream/ ponds in the Elephant habitat beats me?

The chimps have a nice exhibit but it is very bare in comparison to their neighbours, the Gorillas!

I would be interested to hear from someone on "the inside" what the plans are and what time-scale we are talking about...

Work has began on the sea lion cove and the new flamingo aviary has been built. Vulpes the otters have water near the back of their exhibit which i think has been done up since you posted. I heard that the orangutans are next on the list to get a done up but there is no news on the hippos but i agree that it needs to be revamped.
