Paignton Zoo In poor taste?

I do not feel that "the whole world should become vegetarian/vegan". But I do believe we need to decrease the amount we take in as a population.

Also, I believe, we need to take into acount exactly what we are eating (Chicken/Fish or Beef/Pork) and how it is produced: Free range, MSC Certified Fish etc.

Im sure otheres have made this point before, in more detail, on other threads...

This thread makes me yearn for more Ostrich, i really love the stuff. Aldis used to sell Ostrich steaks for £4 a box. I bought 15 boxes whilst it was in stock, and filled the freezer. Sadly i've run out and haven't had it for over a year.

I personally do eat meat, however only domesticated animals, and this is where I draw my line. I personally could not eat deer or anyform of wild animal as the image of a mighty stag running across a field would spring to mind, I guess its out of a form of respect to such beautiful animals.

As I understand it venison sometimes comes from Deer culled to control herd sizes which prevents over-grazing and slow starvation in a bad (weather) years. In any case the Deer have arguably had a better life and death than domestically reared livestock.

I wonder how many 'carnivores' on here would feel happy about eating an elephant that had been shot dead for conservation purposes?

It doesn't really appeal to be honest, but I'd be tempted if someone whose opinion I respected said it was delicious.

Use it or loose it, there are many more species on this planet other than cattle sheep etc that could do with having a dollar value to provide them a secure future.
