Can you tell me the names of the rhinos in Lisbon, please?
The Indian Rhinoceros studbook lists two Indian rhinos in Lisbon on 31 December 2008:-
• male “Gangtok”
• female “Teja”
Obviously, though, this information is now a year out-of-date.
Numa and Nova moved to Lisbon from Dvur Kralove in March 2009. They are mother and daughter although I don't know which way round.

Is the Indian Rhino studbook avaliable online?
I would like to know too.
I was there last saturday and saw the 4 rhinos and no baby!
In fact I've just uploaded photos of the four (divided by the two enclosure: south with two females; north with one male and one female, where the male was trying to mate).
So, my guess is that video is quite old. Plus, I think that ISIS archives concerning LZ have been updated very recently.

Well, what happened to male "Alok", who was born in 2006 at Lisbon Zoo? How old is "Gangtok", which zoo is he from?
Unfortunately, as Kifaru Bwana has already stated, this studbook is not available on-line.
However, when I visited Basle Zoo in September, I was pleased to find both the Indian Rhinoceros Studbook and the Pigmy Hippopotamus Studbook for sale in the zoo shop.
I wish that more zoo shops sold copies of the studbooks that the zoo maintains.
On topic Lisboa rhinos: now the whites are in for success ... what is the score with the GOH rhinos? Cindel, anyone else ...???
What is the reason behind the consistent failure of the original Lisboa pairing to produce viable offspring and when doing so losing these in a post natal fatality of sorts?
Why also maintain mother Numa - non reproductive now - with her daughter (which might impair her from breeding)?
