I wanted to know if the Toronto zoo is still worth visiting with out elephants and some exhibits closed.

ABSOLUTELY! I think they have a great array of species; the elephants are still on display and as far as the exhibit closings in Eurasia go, it will be so worth it once it's all done. It's worthwhile visiting to help support their conservation efforts as well. :)

Most definitely!
The White Lions are beautiful, there is a new Polar Bear cub, and several new baby penguins to look at. All the other animals are still entertaining to watch, as always. Even though you can't walk into Eurasia, make sure you go just based the Australasia Pavilion to check out the Kangaroos and Emus. We just went there on Saturday and were surprised to see two young Emus, that were a lot of fun to watch as they ran around and played. Also, I believe the Zoomobile still goes through the Eurasia domain so you can see most of the animals that way (things in there are so spaced out right now, that half the time we'd go see the animals via zoomobile anyway, just because it was easier on the kids).

So there's still plenty of stuff there to spend a day (or half a day every month, as we do with small kids)

I had always thought Toronto zoo to be a very good zoo, although l have never visited and my reference to call it a good zoo is based on conversations from the late 1990's.

I am planing a visit in early July, should l reconsider as it is out of my way?

When are the elephants leaveing the zoo.

The TZ is worth a visit no matter what, it is by far one of the best zoos I have ever seen.

The elephants are leaving eventually no date is set yet. The domain section is not that far, people seem to exaggerate this to the max, just know that you need to climb up a steep hill to get back to the rest of the zoo. A tip, go to the very bottom of the hill don't look at animals on your way down but when coming back up look at the animals it breaks up the tour coming up.

@zooman, I really think you should come and check out the zoo

As mentioned there are a number of new births, species and other exciting things at the zoo!

Thx Quartz, l will not rule it out just yet.

Is the grizzly bear exhibit any good. And i saw on the website that on the zoomobile you can only see the Bactrain camels Yak and wild horses.

Yes, you should go see the zoo. Even if some sections are closed off, it is so big, there's so much that you can see. If I remember correctly, the grizzly bear exhibit was decent. A grassy yard with a pool in the front for the bears to play in. Probably one of the better exhibits in the Canadian Domain. Highlights of my zoo trip were watching the tree kangaroo in the Australian exhibit, watching the polar bears, the many indoor pavilions, and the African section.

Other gems are the Malaysian Pavillion, with Clouded Leopards and weather depending, free roaming butterflies. Americas Pavillion now has an octopus on display once again. I think that is another critter worth seeing for sure! In the area there's also Babirusa, one of my favorites, in the Indian rhino/tapir house.
