Noah's Ark Zoo Farm Is that a cub moving on the bedding

Are you sure of what you saw? there seem to be several areas within the frame, including in a corner of the den, where the picture 'moves' and looks 'alive'.

Yes Pertinax I am sure of what I saw having bred several species of big cat including tigers, approx an hour ago there was one active cub in the middle of the cubbing den, in clear view of the camera, mum was sat away from the den in the top left corener of the screen where there are 3-4 brinks / tiles.

She paid no interest in the cub, when she stood up she started to pace against what i assume is the front of the cage / serice area then walking across the den to look out the window.

The cub has now been out of sight since half past 8ish

I can't see anything now. The panel across the front(bottom) looks to have a gap between the two planks so you can seee through and there's nothing in evidence.:(

All this highlights why a webcam should not be used for an animal due to give birth. The female was moved when pregnant, has no privacy in the den area. If any collection wants to breed animals successfully they should take the proper measures, take advice from others with experience and not advertise that they will have cubs on show very soon when no-one can ever say whether a pregnant female will give birth and rear successfully (even if she's experienced). Hopefully the mother and cub/s will be fine but if not Noahs Ark will learn a very valuable lesson here and think of the animals first not what they might gain from a marketing/promotion point of view.

The keepers usually come at 6ish to clean out the enclosure Catman ! I have been watching alot maybe that is what they saw??

a quote on the messege boards

To ellis88. I am not too sure about anything at the minute. But earlier I saw a keeper come in with a bucket and take 2 cubs away. I do not know whether they were alive or not. Then he appeared a short while later and seemed to put one back. Again I am not 100% on this. That is why we could do with some info from source.

hmmmm well they have 99.9% certainly put a death sentance on the one they have 'returned' if thats the case. If they have pulled one at such an early age, without it having colostrum from mum then they have an uphill struggle.

Is it me, or does her belly still look bloated?

That is what I said earlier. To me she still looks very distended - still pregnant. There could be a problem with the birth? The pacing would suggest she is agitated. I do not know if this female usually paces

sorry only scanned the thread before and have only just seen her on the camera.

Things don't look great, but hopefully its just becase she has a few more cubs to come yet.

The longest I've known a cat go in beteween giving birth to a cub is 5 hours so it is perfectly feasible that she is still mid-labour, but given the amount of disturbance she has endured, if it is right that keepers have already been in and disturbed her, then I suspect any further cubs will also get rejected as ismore than likely the case with the current 1 that was seen on the camera earlier this evening

Reading the posts underneath it seems she was doing fine till they removed the board from the window grrrrr

update from Noah

Hi Tira fans, As you can see Tira gave birth this afternoon. It was a very exciting event, all caught on camera. Unfortunately I can confirm one of the cubs was still born. Tira did not harm the cub in any way it was just one of those unfortunate and sad things. She has another cub that is still alive. We are keeping everything crossed that the little mite will make it through till the morning. The keepers are unable to get too involved as Tigers are very sensitive creatures and can very quickly turn on their young should they get stressed. Rest assured everything is being done that can be done and we will keep you updated on all the developments. Many thanks, Noah.

That explains a few things then, still it seems the management of the birth could of been better.
