Noah's Ark Zoo Farm Is that a cub moving on the bedding

Tigers of my acquaintance Natasha (1992-2007) and Czarina (1993-2007), Siberians born at Howletts and who came to live at IOW Zoo were certainly studbook registered. They were not bred as their bloodline was over-represented in the studbook population. IOW Zoo also has 2 generic Bengals born at Port Lympne (Rajah & Sahib, born 1992), incidentally.

The Michaela Strachan programme said the Noah's tigers travelled from the North-East of England - what does that mean, were they in a collection there?

Possibly, Flamingo Land in Malton, North Yorkshire.

Saga's over! Wish I hadnt been watching from the beginning now :(

Sad News at Noah’s Ark Anthony Bush, owner of Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm is very sad to announce the death of their baby tiger, Tumkur. Three keepers had given up their time night and day to try to save it, after its mother, who was dying of an incurable cat disease Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), abandoned it on 28th July. The chances of its survival were always very small, but with the sort of dedication shown by only the best zoo keepers they decided to do what they could. There were many ups and downs of concern during the three short weeks of little Tumkur’s life, when medical aid was provided several times in the night. He seemed to be doing better, when on Thursday 20th August he drank normally at midnight. However, by 2 am his appetite was halved and he went downhill rapidly and by 4 am he had sadly passed away. Tumkur’s body will be sent for post mortem to identify exactly what caused his death but we always knew he was very fragile. Anthony Bush would like to acknowledge the immense dedication of the keepers, Chris Wilkinson, Mark Walters and Will Bradbury at a very busy time of year, when their day duties had to be maintained as well as this night shift. Noah's Ark.

Very very sad ending for the two Tigers Tira and Tumkur's, Definately not gone to the plan of Noah's Ark i would imagine now being left with only two.
Hopefully breeding will not happen after this incident for the time being just wait and see how things progress with more experiance being learnt by the keepers day after day.
Huge shame :(

Hopefully NO BREEDING will take place at all as the animals are HYBRIDS,and before anyone has a go about me been to harsh I do think its a shame they had to learn the hard way and its sad that 2 Tigers DIED as a result of this. But then again having seen the House on Telly this week is anybody on here realy surprised that the cub was abandoned, because i`m not as the poor animal had no where to hide and protect the cub within the house.

I agree with you entirely Zoogiraffe two tigers have sadly died as a result of this and it should not happen again. Most Zoos should know a cubbing den does not have any public viewing at all otherwise rejecting is more often going to recure like it has done here.

Two slightly off topic things:
They've had a siamang baby born (good :))
And a Zebra foal. They've posted on their website that "she's a cross between a Grants and Chapmans zebra". Is this place knowingly keeping and breeding animals of a different subspecies?

We'll be seeing the return of zeedonks next :p

An expression of deep surprise is currently entirely failing to cross my face. :)

Yes they are knowingly breeding HYBRID Zebra`s they were offered the chance to have all one sub-species but turned it down as they were happy with we they have got,as for the Siamang baby yes it is good news but I thought the pair was sent to them as a non-breeding pair!

I think that speaks for itself, really. What were BIAZA thinking?

Are they too late to withdraw? :p

BIAZA can revoke membership at any time, due to the right reasons of course! Glasgow and Dartmoor were removed from their ranks for 'defying' the rules of membership - largely not playing by the rules and poor husbandry.

Amazing that this collection managed to slip through the net.

I didnt relise that tetrapod,
Noahs Ark better tread carefully being revoked from BIAZA would not be a good thing on their record.
Can Zoos join BIAZA again? - Such as Dartmoor im guessing the membership was revoked before the new management?
Thanks

I guess they could rejoin. Do they inspect yearly?

Sorry to disapoint you but your information regarding Glasgow is wrong. Glasgow failed to pay their fees to BIAZA (the then Fed of Zoos), it had nothing whatsoever to do with poor husbandry or playing by the rules. Glasgow's lack of proper financial management was to blame and, it was back in 1999 when Glasgow pulled out due to not affording the fees. Be careful to have the correct data first before lambasting an establishment.;)

I think it's surely striped somali wild ass...:p

Well having worked with big cats for over 10 years, I've never heard of a disease that can cause total organ failure!!!!!!

I suspect it was retained placenta or a dead cub that was not passed and caused septicimea or something similar, perhaps i'm being sceptic but do they have a vet or just rely on the power of prayer!!!!!!

It is called "Deux ex machina" and it happens when the cat doesn't pray a lot. Pardon, doesn't pray a lot in Noahs Ark Zoo Farm.
