Greetings, Zoochat! I go by Corangurilla, and I currently reside in Madison, Wisconsin for college stuff, although I do go and visit my family back in Arizona in the summer and winter. My "home zoos" are Henry Vilas and Phoenix, but also Odysea Aquarium and the Wildlife World Zoo.
I've always loved animals ever since I was a baby (my first word was "hippo", according to my mom), and as such, I've loved visiting zoos. I've visited almost 40 different zoos and aquariums across the US in my lifetime, with my personal top 3 being Cheyenne Mountain, the San Diego Safari Park, and Lincoln Park (the Chicago one).
I've known about Zoochat for years, but I mainly just watched the forums as an outsider to keep up with the general happenings of the zoo world (births, deaths, transfers, new exhibits, plans, etc.). So why am I officially joining now? Because I wasn't ready before :p. But now I'm here!
And now, some other assorted bits of trivia about me.
  1. Hippos are my favorite animals, followed closely by great apes and elephants.
  2. I am on the Autism spectrum. Just thought it was important for people to know.
  3. One particularly funny (but also painful) coincidence was that I visited the Brookfield Zoo in 2020, but their indoor exhibits were closed due to COVID, and I visited the Milwaukee County Zoo this year, but their aviary was closed due to the Bird Flu. The kicker? I visited both of these facilities on March 14th. Cue the Doofenshmirtz meme with the nickels.
  4. I've only ever played Zoo Tycoon 1, not Zoo Tycoon 2 or Planet Zoo (although that will change someday)
  5. I convinced my mother to go on a road trip across Ohio with me to visit the four major zoos there as a high school graduation gift.
