On February 14th, 2023, the zoo announced the gender (1.0) and name, Mathan (He was formerly known as Spare Bear).

On February 15th, it was reported that the zoo was cited by the USDA in October 2022 for having only 5 out of 10 animal keepers staffed, with a deadline to correct the problem by February 1st, 2023.

On March 9th, it was reported, among other things, that 23 animals passed away in 2022, including (0.0.2) red river hogs, (0.0.3) red-ruffed lemurs, and a (0.0.1) red wolf. It was also reported that (0.0.3) American flamingos were killed in a 2022 predation event, as well as (0.0.4) black-necked swans went missing (most likely from the same predators).
