Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens Jacksonville Zoo News

Nice, from the pictures Jacksonville has out done itself....exhibits can really turn out great when done in phases, budget often seems to be more flexible that way...but it has its issues too. I look forward to see Jordy, the Komodo Dragon, in his new home.

That does really look nice. I much prefer things be built in phases than have exhibits that fall short when the money runs out.

Little known fact about the Jacksonville Zoo: It's the ONLY zoo in America where you can see ALL of Africa's famous "Big Five" animals (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, and rhino). They sort of cheat, though, in that their leopard is an Asian leopard, but he's displayed with the African animals.

That's a cool fact. There sure don't seem to be a lot of cape buffalo in the US. I may make a trip down to Jax at the end of next month. If I can hit this zoo and Zoo Atlanta plus the Georgia Aquarium that'll be three more under my belt.

I am excited to see the new things you guys are building as you are the closest zoo to me other then the one I am at :D

I'm confused. So that means the zoo got three more lions in addition to the two females they already got earlier this year or is it just the male mentioned in the article that's new?

$125 million bond measure?! I don't think Pate could've pulled that one off in his wildest dreams. It will be interesting to see how he keeps up with the Master plan Pate left behind.
