Chester Zoo Jaguars

Does anyone know what is happening with the Spirit of Jaguar House, Chester Zoo ?
Seems it was closed yesterday, the outside area was open.

Over this winter there are alterations being carried out inside, including a large new aquarium. It may be work has already started on this. :)
 
Oh, that sounds good.
Guess they must be developimg one of the jaguar units, hope that doesnt mean one of them is going/gone?
Just have to wait an see I guess.

Nope both the Jaguar enclosures will remain the same,they are just making better use of the wasted space inside and putting,in the exhibits that should have been put in from day one!!!

The same, except that there's supposed to be a new mural on the savannah side and perhaps some new plants on the rainforest side (varieties that don't need a crazy amount of heat).

The first time I went in there I noticed the huge empty space between the two main Jaguar exhibits inside the building. It was only much later I learnt the story (on here) of how the central area was never completed. Good to hear they are finally getting around to it.

What is the full story with it not being completed. I have searched a few threads and found nothing.

All I know is that several smaller 'fill in' exhibits were never completed, such as those shown on the Zoolex link. I have no idea of the reason why they weren't completed-an obvious guess would be maybe it went over budget, so too much cost?
 
It's no secret that the central area was designed to exhibit a Jaguar car, hence the empty space and multiple, high light sources. Thankfully this never happened.

Oh, I never heard that part of the story. So a Jaguar House and Car showroom combined!.:D

I remember a new Jaguar car being exhibited on a stand at the zoo entrance next to the elephant house, 2003 I think, personally if the car manufacturer has donated a large sum of money to finance a new jaguar house I cannot see anything wrong with this, remember the old saying,"there is no such thing as a free dinner". Pity there was not a car manufacturer in the U.K. called chimpanzee, as I know of a zoo where their large donation to build a new chimp house would be gratefully appreciated , and if they wanted to display their latest model next to it all well and good, no worse than Panda cola having vending machines next to the giant pandas at London twenty years ago.
