ISIS says that the Highland Wildlife Park has a troop of 6.11 and from photos it looks a very good enclosure.
I am surprised, that it is over a year since the groups all came together and still no sign of any young yet?
AFAIK they are the only ones in UK and this is a species not seen in any UK other collection in the last fifty years.
AFAIK? uwot? o......icwum![]()
most common animals have become a rarity now in the UK rhesus, stump tailed, crab eating, japanese macaques etc are only seen in one or two places now which is sad really!
I think there is room for more in the UK at the moment. I remember the group of pig-tailed macaques in the Sobell pavilions, and I'd love to see Moor macaques again (I think I saw them at Belle Vue).
Edinburgh no longer has the stump tailed macaque, Monkeyworld have a large group of ex lab animals though.
Drayton Manor has big breeding groups of both rhesus and pig-tailed macaques . The only pair of Tonkean macaque are at Howletts .
