The zoo has received from the Tallinn zoo in Estonia, 1.3 Transcaspian urial (Ovis vignei Arkal), these are the only ones on show in western Europe, they are very young animals, ranging from 6 months to 18 months old.
Also arrived from Tallinn, were 0.2 gaur .

It seems at last we are also getting serious on rare and endangered caprids and ovids in zoo collections. Loomaeed Tallinna Zoo IS a treasure trove for those so inclined ...

1.0 Melanistic Jaguar arrived from Warsaw on 27th October (named Aramis)

1.0 Caracal also arrived from Krakow in the same shipment


EDIT: 1.0 Chinese Leopard also came from Krakow (Called Tao) A female is expected in the next few weeks

The Jaguar (Aramis) will be moved to Vincennes in December 2013

The expected female Chinese Leopard arrived today from Plzen. Name is Bao-Bao and she was born on 15/08/2011

3.5 Houbara bustard have been imported from the National Avian Research Centre (NARC) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
These are the only ones in Europe.

A pair of Australian Black-headed pythons has arrived. The male measures 2.30 meter and the female 2.21 meter. ( FB ).

Borneon Orangutan, Joey has died unexpectedly

The Menagerie was the regret to inform you that our male orangutan, Joey, died this morning of July 23, 2014.
Joey came to the Menagerie in November 2013. For several years he suffered from occasional digestive problems. Beginning July Joey introduced severe digestive disorders, progressively stopping to eat. The team of veterinarians and trainers of the Menagerie treated him taking support and advice from specialists in veterinary and human medicine. He unfortunately died despite several days of intensive care

The zoo has received another new species in the form of 0.1 Goodfellows Tree Kangaroo from Dortmund

They received at least a pair, I believe from Antwerp and Magdeburg.

A (which I think is a female) Northern luzon giant cloud rat have arrived from Parken Zoo, Sweden.
