Jimmy's Farm & Wildlife Park Jimmy's Farm News 2021

Seems there's no stopping this park now which is great news.

Hopefully we’re looking forward to a good rest of the year once we can reopen on the 12th. We’ll also be adding some of our current African residents to the area in the near future too.

@mrcriss are you finished expanding Jimmy’s Farm or are further expansions coming in the future? Have you ever considered putting some rides into the farm/wildlife park?

Team Building With Bite have just posted a great overview of the new expansion on their Facebook Page - Log into Facebook

They are absolute gents...thoroughly professional and lovey to be around, and doing top quality work. What they’ve built is actually really beautiful....many builders would use concrete blocks and metal, but the wooden finish just blends into the landscape.

There’s plenty of room for us to push out into and we’re always talking about plans. But let us relax for a while on what we’ve built while we’ve been closed, eh?;)

Not sure what you mean by rides though. Everything we do has to compliment the stunning landscape and natural spaces around us, so I’m not sure that roller coasters and carousels are really very us.

A nice row of pheasant aviaries.....?:)

There’s plenty of wild ones around!

or we’ve also just released our new free ranging group of guinea fowl today following the bird flu restrictions being lifted.
I was kind of thinking other species than Phasianus colchicus. Almost no U.K. zoo currently displays more than a very few pheasant species. It’s worth considering......:)

Tbh, we don’t really like to cage things up in small spaces...that’s why as ended up building a MASSIVE aviary for our kooks. A series of aviaries done our way might be a bit too much!

Massive aviaries would be good, you could really go to town on habitat presentation. Some pheasant species can be mixed, or even kept as single species colonies, under such conditions. AND Jimmy’s Farm would get Brownie points for thinking outside the box.

Might be more suited to a larger place with more cash-flow. Any big investment our little operation makes has to be financially viable and I’m not sure that pheasants, though undeniably stunning, would pull the crowds in!;)

I think it depends how they’re promoted:)

So now we've gone public, I'm happy to announce our new Africa section to the park. Adding 6.56 acres of space previously off limits to guests, we have "Project Macaque" where we house our two groups of rescued barbary macaques, and our most recent build...our new mixed african paddock, the housing of which was built by 'Team Building With BITE'. We've moved in 2.0 Grant's Zebras, and are waiting on more zebra and other species to join them. It's been hard work, but it's looking stunning, and as the visitors will be walking right through the middle of both macaque and the hoofstock enclosure, it should hopefully immerse people right in the action.:D
this is brilliant news. hope the zebras enjoy their new home

If anyone follows Team Building with Bite on social media there is a a fantastic video of the new build and it looks amazing.

On the subject of the Team Building with BITE built zebra housing....I saw them take a much more detailed video of a tour walking through the whole housing on the last day of the build with only a little more painting left to do. Hopefully they’ll be sharing that over the next few days:)

Can we ask where the zebras came from and where the others will come from? And will they be all males?

These 2 came from Lake District Wildlife Park. The others are coming from 2 more southern locations. Don't wanna jinx it by saying where from at this stage...I hope you understand as any transfer can be a tricky business. All males...we agreed to hold a non-breeding group for now.

Other species in that paddock will be breeding groups.
