Jimmy's Farm & Wildlife Park Jimmy's Farm News

Yes there's only so many animals you can rescue but at least there are some animals in your collection that now have a second chance at life. Am I right in thinking that Coatis in general can't be used for breeding?

Yeah the coatis and raccoons have to be non-breeding groups.

Our female matriarch coati was taken from the wild as a baby, kept in a tiny parrot cage and went slowly nuts...stereotyping and self-mutilating. She was rescued and slowly started to come round. Before the breeding ban came into place, she was put to a male with the hope that it would sort her out, giving her something more to think about. Luckily it worked, after which came came to us with her 4 youngsters. Now her son is castrated. They’re a great group with a large oak tree in their paddock, and it’s great to see them running about in it.

Oh and I can’t believe I forgot....spent a lot of the first lockdown rescuing very wild peafowl from a local property who’s owner had to go into care. That was a mission, but at least it gave me a little project!

Well I am sorry this series has finished for now as it was like a breath of fresh air compared to most of the current tv zoo series. Learned lots of new stuff and the camaraderie among the team was apparent. Jimmy's passion and determination is admirable and the filmed Rat and Badger clip and comments was cool, esp. with him being a farmer. There were also some very funny quips and sequences as a bonus. The only minor improvement would be for Jimmy to use the word 'my' a little less but I reckon he will notice this himself when he watches back the shows.
Looking forward to future programs and wish the park luck and success.

This really makes me happy, thanks. It's such a heavy filming schedule which almost kills us, but I think it's really made special by the beautiful quality of camera work from the three excellent crews...they really are a cut above and deserve every accolade that they don't get!:D It's crazy to think 'Spring' was nominated for some award for the best TV show made during lockdown, but lost out to some crappy studio audience 'X-Factor'- style show!

I get what you mean about the whole "my" thing. Here's the true telly secret though....Jim doesn't write the voiceover, there isn't time. The editors ask us for any fact-checking, and then they write the script. In fact, when we see the rough cut, there are three different voices saying the words.;)

You thought that the 2020 Jimmy's madness was over? Well the camera crew descended this morning to start filming the Christmas spesh. It'll be mostly a recap kinda show with some new footage of updates about some of the main characters....plus a lovely new arrival that'll be here in just over a week.
It'll air on Ch4 on 27th December.

@mrcriss How are you dealing with avian flu restrictions? New guidance from DEFRA is going to cause plenty of people headaches.

As usual, in the run up to the TV shows airing, there's a lot of things I'm not allowed to talk about in case it makes it onto the show. Ch4 (quite understandably) don't like us giving away any info about potential new stories ahead of it airing, sorry.

"A Year at Jimmy's Farm", our little christmas spesh show, will be on Channel 4 tomorrow night (30th December) at 7pm. Full disclosure, it's mainly a recap style show about the past 2 series, but there's some new stuff in there and catch ups with some of the most notable characters. There's also a lovely new arrival that just going to warm the cockles of your festive hearts! Please give it a watch as good viewing figures would mean we get to make another series in Spring (the stories for which are already shaping up to be fantastic! ;)

Did anyone catch the show on this cold winter's night? I hope that you enjoyed meeting our new little Bracken! Having two cuddly tame roe deer fawns in the park is proving very popular with our guests!:)

Enjoyed watching the programme when the weather was so cold. The catch up showed just how much work has been done during this extraordinary year. Lovely get together at the end with the 2 rescued roe deer. All the best for 2021

Thanks very much for supporting. It's been a crazy old year, ending up with the coldest of the cold icy mornings.
We're closed again for the foreseeable, but we'll keep carrying on with the developments, and the hopes are to have a whole new section close to finished by the time we reopen, so watch this space!;)
