Thank you for sharing this Nandito !

Fascinating to see how this issue will play out in the media.

Personally, I am hoping that it will effectively galvanize support against this park and also block the developments in buildng it.

Here here! Komodo dragons habitat shouldn't suffer, because of a stupid theme park. Like @Nandito said, people went here for the dragons, not to ride rides.

Municipal or regional governments frequently underestimate what brings visitors / tourism to a region.

These career politicians often think that very tacky theme park type attractions will triple the visitation figures and bring in greater influx / circulation of capital but they need to be reminded of how limited this vision is.

It actually reminds me of a very similar case in Vietnam I remember reading about where a theme park was going to be constructed on an area of montane forest which contained a very important meta-population of Douc langurs.

Unfortunately, I do not remember what eventually happened in the case of those plans but I do hope for the sake of the Doucs and the rest of the biodiversity there that this development was blocked.

Yeah, I hope the doucs are alright too.

Usually I'm excited when a new theme park/zoo/aquaria is opened in Indonesia but this time I'm not. Komodo Island should be kept as is and free from human interaction (excl. tourists) and local villagers, not to be built into a theme park. They can build a theme park in Bali instead lmao.

Screw those corrupt politicians and businessmen. To hell with them!

Totally agree !

So are you in support of the Indonesian government pushing all of those villagers off the island? Personally I thought that was an awful thing to do, especially since we know know it was basically just so they could build a theme park.

I've gotta say something.

As much as I love Jurassic Park, Indonesian dinosaur theme parks are often crap. Because many Indonesians only perceive dinosaurs as something "scary and man eating" instead of an actual creature from prehistoric times and these only results in most dinosaur theme parks looking like crappy all scary looking dinosaurs with almost no unique dinosaurs outside the most famous ones like T-Rex, Raptors, and Trikes. As an Indonesian who loves dinosaur as an actual creature, I'm definitely saddened by this.

And to see it built on Komodo Island... huge yikes. I'm not on board at all. Unless they actually want to clone actual dinosaurs, I'm not supporting this at all.

Jatim Park 3 is already the best "Jurassic Park" in Indonesia, and I don't think another one in Komodo would work

And the distance from Jatim Park 3 to Komodo Island is literally only 472 miles apart, easily reached using planes. Idk why they decided to built a new dinosaur theme park when another one is build on the island almost next to it.

No idea too lol but this is ridiculous
I know right? If they do want to build a dinosaur theme park on the islands of Nusa Tenggara, it better be the best dinosaur theme park in the world otherwise the Komodos have their habitat wasted for crappy theme park. Which not only is a huge waste of money, but also a huge effect on the habitat of animals living there.

Yea, but no matter how good it is it's still a disrespect to the Komodo dragons and the island's natives

I would prefer no theme park was made at all. I personally think the island of Komodo itself is loads more exciting than anything man-made that would invade the dragon's land. I don't even enjoy theme parks in any circumstances, but that's just me.

Yea, they could build the theme park in Bali instead. Bali lacks theme parks, and every time I go there I could only go to either Bali Safari or those sea turtle nurseries.
