A hippo was born. His parents are closely related (brother and sister, born there also) and this is their 9th calf (7 survived so far).
The zoo does nothing to prevent inbreeding - hippos were its mascot animals from the end of WW2.

The Kalinigrad Zoo recieved 2 Orang utans from Moscow Zoo : 21 year old female Nona and her 5 year old son Zesan.

NONA - born 9. 2. 1995 at Dvur Kralove, parents are Elmar and Zaneta. Nice to see she has a son.
A male orangutan called Benjamin has been transferred from Aalborg Zoo to Kaliningard Zoo earlier last month

1.0 Bornean Orangutan was born in 2018, and in 2019 his father Benjamin died.
Also, 0.1 Giant anteater was born in 2019 and sadly was hand-raised.
The zoo is planning to phase out elephants after Pregolja dies. She is currently kept in horrible conditions.

3 gray seals and black bear died after deworming.
There are virtually no black bears in Russia. Leningrad zoo's one may have died already.
