I just found out that the zoo will be acquiring 2 female gorillas, but I do not know where from, or any details. Also, the tamandua was replaced by 0.1 black-billed magpies.
Edit: The 2 females are in quarentine and will be on display with the male, "Roddy", I think is his name, next spring.
There are a number of excellent photos in the gallery (courtesy of KCZooFan) and here is a link with a little more information on the zoo's master plan. The $11 million polar bear exhibit that opened in 2010 will soon be followed by the $15 million "Penguin Plaza":
Two new female Gorillas have arrived from Dallas Zoo. There is a short video and it shows a very large simple outdoor enclosure but with lots of overhead cover in the form of young trees. Gets a big thumbs up from me.

Tufani and Makena were sent to Dallas as companion animals for Dallas's male Patrick. Their introduction didn't go well, so they were sent to Kansas City. Dallas is now a bachelor group holder, with no SSP recommendations.
My thoughts exactly. It seems like the breeding program halted completely when their first born gorilla "Jake" and mom "Aquafina" died. Then the original breeding male "Hercules" died. So we are now holding males, but on the bright side, this gives other zoos space to breed more!
