5 Leopard tortoises hatched at Born .

Kasteelpark Born recieved 6 Raccoons ( a mother and her 5 young ) last week from Stichting AAP.

In July atleast 1 Indian crested porcupine (Hystrix indica) was born.

Three weeks ago 6 Black swans (Cygnus atratus) hatched.

This morning female Bactrian camel Zulaika gave birth to a female, who was given the name Soraya.

Sadly 13-year old male Bactrian camel Ali passed away last Saturday, he arrived at the zoo in 2013.

The Dutch Newspaper Algemeen Dagblad states a Lynx escaped from Kasteelpark Born this morning (around 11:00 AM), and the animal was missing for a bit.
According to the facebook page "112 alarmeringen Limburg", the animal was found just now (11:57 AM) and no one was harmed.

The zoo will be closed from the 6th till the 26th of November, a trench for water pipes and electricity cables will be dug from the cafe to the new entrance building.

Early this month a female Snowy Owl (Bubo scandiacus) arrived from Dierenpark Blanckendaell to accompany the already present male.

Recently the last South American coati (Nasua nasua) passed away.

Nice to see the Kasteelpark Born pair up some of their lone animals!

There is not much focus here on the Kasteelpark and be nice to see more regular visits from some of our Zoochat Dutch forumsters! Good that one of us @JurassicMax is making quite the effort to keep us updated on new developments and stuff.

Perhaps, I will try to step up and visit soon myself ... bc I am intrigued! I guess they are not a member of the NVD Dutch zoo association?
