iZoo is opening another location. This location is named KawaZoo and will open at August 1 this year. Unlike iZoo, KawaZoo will not be focusing on reptiles, instead it will focus on exhibiting only frogs.

Interesting! If the old iZoo have or had some incredible rarities in reptiles, the new one maybe have some incredibly rare frogs...

Yea, I am excited too despite not knowing much about frogs. I hope the animals are obtained from an ethical source (they can be given that there is at least one prestigious facility they are working with)

The sister location KawaZoo, the frog museum, officially open at August 1. according to this news article more than 120 species/kinds of native and exotic frogs will be harbored. There will be 50 displays in this 285 square meter one story facility.

If the google translation is accurate the collection will include Cameroon Goliath frogs in a walk through enclosure allowing visitors to observe this animal more closer.

Nice. I suppose that KawaZoo will be not a JAZA place like also iZoo is not, so, species list will not be available in JAZA website. They will have a website with species list? I hope that they acquire some dreamed species like corroboree frog, and try to breed them :D

I don't think corroboree frogs are that easy to poach, are they? I mean while iZoo does have foreign relationships like the one with Prague, and meetings with the Indonesian government to bring Komodos back to Japan, I don't think an unaccredited zoo would obtain the approval of the elite that easily.

Ehm, I never tought in poaching, but in exchange or cession from zoos that breeds this species in Australia.

Are there anyone visiting this zoo? I think this will be a great collection to this year challenge.

I went to KawaZoo in July. It was a small building in the middle of nowhere, and they don't speak English. It was an awesome collection with many rarities, including the goliath frog, and there's basically a walk-through aviary but with African tree frogs. I'll put pics up once the moderators make a folder for it.

Feel free to post them to the Japan-Other gallery for now; we can move the photographs once a gallery for the zoo has been created :)
