Just find-out about a breeding programm for the Key Largo wood rat which is run by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, the Tampa Lowry Park and Disney's Animal Kingdom.
Does anyone know something about this programm for example howmany founders are in the programm, how well are they breeding and howmany are there now in captivity.
I also understand that the first animals have already been re-introduced and would like to know how these re-introduced animals are doing.

You are a little late. The program ended last year and there are no more in captivity.

No jolly Disney ending for endangered Key Largo wood rats bred at Animal Kingdom - Tampa Bay Times

Thank you very much or this information. Realy unbelieveble how a succesfull ( last ? ) attemp to save a species can be made useless !!!
Any idea howmany wild woodrats are still running around ?
