2023 News:
On April 2nd, it was announced that a (0.1) generic giraffe named Tucker was transferred to the Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park in Michigan.

On April 9th, the zoo announced that a (0.0.1) addax named Alex was born.

The new giant anteater habitat and the new indoor/outdoor African penguin habitat. They debuted this past weekend their safari trucks to take guests through the drive-thru section. As soon as June, the cars will no longer to be able to drive through the drive-thru section. Only the safari trucks will be allowed. The new tiger habitat will open later this year. The tigers at Living Treasures Moraine are relocating to their sister park for a new larger habitat.
Well that sucks, about the drive thru part!
The reason they are changing it is for the safety of the animals. Plus the cars were feeding the short list of animals they are advised not to because of their temperament. the safari truck ride is enjoyable.

There are dozens of safaris across the country, most don't have those issues because they do a good job policing what's going on. If you don't want people feeding the zebras, make sure people understand that and kick them out if they do it anyway, or put the zebras behind a fence. I am not comfortable riding in a vehicle like that; it's why I haven't gotten around to visiting several places in PA and have never done the safari at Catoctin.
Also on May 24th, the zoo announced that a (0.0.1) common eland named Elise was born which is now on exhibit.

Moraine. Keystone Safari and Living Treasures Moraine have the same owner. Laurel Highlands is owned by a different family member. Keystone and Moraine have been switching animals. Larger animals tend to go to Keystone with some exceptions. Moraine is currently going through a renovation process.

On February 28th, it was reported that the zoo transferred (0.2) Pere David's deer to the Erie Zoo in Pennsylvania.
