I'd also be interested to know if the zoo holds these species as I've heard the zoo has lost a lot of species in recent years. Also, does anyone know how difficult it is to get a cab to Bangkok from here? One comment on Tripadvisor said that it's so remote not even a grabtaxi would pick you up.

The zoo is approximately 100 kilometers away from Bangkok, and there is no public transportation. If you plan to travel from Bangkok, you need to book a round-trip taxi

@Zz123 thanks for the reply. I don't suppose you know if any of the more interesting species such as Indochinese Serow, Javan Mongoose, Flat-headed Cat, Banded Linsang, Small Indian Civet, Large Indian Civet, Eld's Deer, Asiatic Golden Cat, Asiatic Brush-tailed Porcupine, Chinese Serow and Assam Macaque, are kept these days?

According to ZTL: Banded Linsang, Indochinese Serow: No current holdings
Javan Mongoose: Gowang, Guadeloupe, Jakarta, Martinique
Flat-headed Cat: Batu
Small Indian Civet: Assam, Dehiwala, Kanpur, Mansur
Large Indian Civet: Kankai
Eld's Deer: 26 holdings
Asiatic Golden Cat: Assam, Bangkok (PATA), Heidelberg, Nesles, Sukawali, Wuppertal,
Asiatic Brush-tailed Porcupine: Assam
Chinese Serow: Huangshan
Assam Macaque: Assam, Bengaluru

It would cost a lot to taxi there from Bangkok - you'd have to hire the car for the day as well because you need to get back again.

It's cheaper from Pattaya (only half the distance - about 45 minutes drive), but probably the cheapest way is to bus from Bangkok to Si Racha, and then it's less than half an hour by taxi from there to Khao Kheow.
