Khao Kheow Forest & Wildlife Reserve Park Khao Kheow Open Zoo news

Awesome! Were they named yet? Can they be viewed yet? I’ll be taking a trip in a couple weeks and bringing a couple clients out there

Master plan of Khao Kheow Open Zoo 2025

Open the Mountain Animals exhibit Phase 1 (mainland serow babary sheep)
Construction of an animal welfare center and extension of the clouded leopard breeding centre
Construction of the new penguin and seal exhibition, Phase 1 (Humboldt penguin macaroni penguin rockoper penguin)
Construction new douc languar exhibit
Move the pygmy hippo 0,2 Go to Chiang Mai Zoo and Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo
Received additional Chinese red pandas from jaza
Develop a population management plan for clouded leopards in collaboration with eaza seaza
Develop a population plan to conserve Indochinese tigers and Indochinese jungle cat
receive gray shanked douc langur and François languar form vza
Withdraw cat complex exhibit
Organize a project to release slow lolis and Burmese banteng
Construction of a Malayan tapir breeding center and mainland serow
I am very glad the zoo is starting to cooperate beyond the current clouded leopard initiative. The Khao Kheow ORZ is really one of the best zoos in Thailand and does a lot for ex situ conservation breeding. I am so chuffed over the news of new langur species ... and releasing Burmese banteng et cetera.

@Flat headed cat, Keep up the good work and hopefully a lot more to come!

Yes, it is a new species in Thailand. Currently, the import of pigs in Thailand is prohibited. We will import them only after receiving special permission from the Department of Livestock Development.I think they might get the babirusa from Singapore.

The baby red shaked douc languar is still unnamed. It is normal for baby red shaked douc languar to be born at Khao Kheow Open Zoo. A pygmy hippo from Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo has been brought in to mate with a vacant male
Is there any way I can possibly email you? I had a few questions

0.1 pygmy hippo from Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo
1.1 Greater Adjutant from Bang Phra Waterfowl Breeding Center
0.2 Asian small-clawed otter from Bang Phra Waterfowl Breeding Center
All welcome additions! I do hope the zoo will acquire one of the rarer otter species in due course!

How many greater adjudant stork does Khao Kheow ORZ now hold? Do they breed the species at all / yet?

As for the pygmy hippo: It seems the youngest mature male Moo Toon (Tun) at Khao Kheow is the intended mate for the female (Moo Manao) coming in from Khorat / Natchon Ratchasima Zoo.

I believe Khao Kheow has 1.2 breeding pairs: the young male Tony (unsure when or where he was born) and the females Jona (oldest and born in Singapore in late 1990's) and younger female Kanya (born in 2014/2015 at KK ORZ).

With more changes coming next year as 2 of the 3 younger females are due to be sent on breeding loan soon.
