Kloss Gibbons?

According to Zootierliste, Basel stopped keeping Kloss Gibbons in 1979, but did breed them in the years before. Twycross started keeping them in 1979, and only had one animal. It sounds like they took the Basel offspring and that was it... Anyone the final word on this?

Could it be that it`s an ex-pet who`s owner just happened to be live in Basel!

Nope- I was definately under the impression Twycross received the last survivor of the Basel ZOO group.

I think your 'expet' Primate at Twycross is/was another species- there are certainly plenty of 'misfits' there to choose from...:D

Not the final word- but Bilou, the Twycross animal, could have been an offspring or an original w/c one- whichever outlived the others longest.

Pertinax is correct. Bilou was the last remaining member of the Basle group. He arrived at Twycross in 1979 after a member of Basle's administration department, Kathleen Tobler, who had a soft spot for Bilou, contacted Twycross asking them to take him and locate a mate.

A mate was due to come from Australia, but she died before the export permits could be arranged.

Thanks for the confirmation. Maybe Kathleen Tobler was the lady who used to visit him at Twycross?

The mate was to be sourced from Perth Zoo.
