Knowsley Safari Park Knowsley Safari Park 2021

There is a new blog with updates on the safari park.

* Bush dogs have had an upgrade to their enclosure with a new house and extra viewing windows.
*Wolves have moved back onto the safari drive while Wolf Country is under renovation, this is only a temporary move.
*Foot bridge to the giraffes and meerkats has been replaced

And if anyone is interested, Knowsley were on BBC Breakfast this morning so if you check it out on iPlayer about 2 hours, 20 minutes in.

Yes, Lord Derby said "...thankfully there's been some good business loan schemes to help us out, so government has tried to make it possible for businesses to keep going."

Just seen a post about the tigers on their social media

"One of our female tigers has moved to the safari drive while we mix the new male with our other female in the Tiger Trail

how exciting!
So now you can spot the stripes on foot and by car!"

Really enjoyable first day back at Knowsley. Enjoyed seeing the Zebra's for the first time although they were in a fenced off area. They look to be getting along really well, so hopefully that will prove positiver for the breeding programme.

The Six Knowsley Lions were active and its always fascinating to see how they interact as a Pride.

Miron the Male tiger was active in the top enclosure, whilst Sinda enjoyed a nice afternoon nap in the Sunshine. Bira was inside her enclosure on the Safari drive.

The White Rhinos in the first Paddock were grazing away but in the second paddock they were enjoying a nice chilled day in the Sun.

The Baboons were of course in their element and destroying cars left right and centre.

@BillBoy80 some fantastic photos there

Thank you so much. Managed to visit again the Rhinos were much more lively and Miron really does love to show off to the Crowds. He’s a proper character.2EEE97B4-B37D-4324-943C-0C89489D6D1E.jpeg CFE3FAFC-1709-4AF7-A41D-7C11117015C3.jpeg 415EC26C-FFD7-4D18-9116-BDE28CC1093A.jpeg294E4F51-A1A6-4941-BBA1-DF0418A236B8.jpeg87B8770C-EA20-4F76-B66E-9682E0C937D8.jpeg 68C7B634-D34D-4FCA-9F50-4E190F3798B2.jpeg71906620-AF9E-42E1-AADE-C8EECD3D44D1.jpeg 2D9B22A7-4D0D-4334-83B7-2424FDC4A81C.jpegBE7071D1-33C5-406C-BDB3-3A9C920BB8F4.jpeg 8B0E5D41-6BCB-45A9-B7FA-B9225B858199.jpeg

Did their enclosure need revamping? I haven't been for 4 years
Sorry I overlooked this post. It appears to be part of a wider upgrade in that area, which includes a number of outdoor catering areas. They are being finished to a very high standard, using natural materials. They surround the new enclosure on both sides. It is great to see Knowsley are continuing to modernise the foot safari and it will hopefully bring in good financial returns that can be used to develop other areas.

No worries, thanks for the update. I don't get to visit as often as I'd like so I do end up relying on people like yourself to provide updates haha

Well I will continue to update, you are clearly very knowledgable. We added Chester Zoo membership for Christmas, so I will hopefully be able to make some contributions to that thread at some point. I’ve been reading the Chester threads to try to get up to speed with the goings on. As always your contributions in that thread are so informative.

Thank you @BillBoy80 I generally only discover my information via social media and zoos own websites so try to provide factual information. I hope you get to use your Chester memberships to full use this year.

You provide the photos and I'll try and provide the information :D;)

I hadn’t seen the Ankole Cattle at Knowsley since it reopened. It appears they have been transferred to Blair Drummond (I’m guessing to make space for the Grevy’s Zebra.

Four new arrivals at Blair Drummond

Moo-ve over zebras - the Ankole cattle have arrived!
This month, we welcomed four new friends to the park. Honey, Dolores, Daisy and Fernando are Ankole cattle. Originally a breed from Africa, Ankole cattle have very impressive horns, so they’re not hard to spot in their new enclosure in the African section of the drive-through.

The “fab four” arrived with us from Knowsley Safari Park near Liverpool, and seem to be settling well into their new home.

Hoof-stock keeper Meg Rollo said:

“Our new arrivals are settling well. In the wild, Ankole cattle like to travel in herds for company and protection, and these four are sticking close together too… or as close as they can with their enormous horns!

A really good new addition to Knowsley Safari opened this weekend. A new Bush Dog enclosure has been incorporated into a new Timber and Glass food court. The first part of the Food Court to open specialises in Pizza’s, Desserts and Hot & Cold Drinks. The Bush Dogs are absolutely loving their enclosure
